A Fail-safe Way to Increase Your Profits

Saturday, January 23rd, 2010

It’s distressing how many businesses attempt to sell and advertise their products online to no prevail. And if you’re already a successful marketer, there still may be loopholes in your current tactics that, if corrected, could skyrocket your profits even more.

One of the first mistakes I notice about many of these companies is that they’ve failed to create a fail-safe business plan.

A sound business plan is crucial to making your internet marking company successful. If you haven’t established one already, it’s in your best interest to do so as soon as possible.

The first thing you should consider when creating your business plan is marketing. A good marketing plan will address the issue of funding your marketing as well as the ideal ways to appeal to your customer base, thus increasing sales.

In remaining unsuccessful when it comes to their marketing and business plans, many companies fall short when they would otherwise succeed. They reveal that they are willing to overlook essential marketing strategies such as hiring a copywriter or boosting their website’s traffic via SEO keywords or email autoresponders.

A good professional copywriter can be one of the biggest assets your company can hire. Hiring a copywriter that knows your business and your products can ensure that when customers visit your website, they are treated to concise, eye catching information about your products and policies.

However, a sales letter isn’t the only thing you should worry about. There is also the matter of increasing your website’s traffic.

Creating internet traffic is one of the more challenging aspects of internet marketing. Many companies assume they can write a sales letter, build a website, include a mailing list, and the profit will come rolling in. Sadly, this isn’t true.

Without a good, solid marketing plan, these precautions do very little for your business in the long run.

Creating the best marketing plan for your business entails that you conduct extensive study. You will need to know how much you’re willing to pay for sufficient advertising. You will need to know your consumers and what will appeal to them. You will need to consider both your short and long term goals.

How does one go about creating the ideal marketing plan? You can go about this in a variety of ways. Hiring someone to do it for you is an efficient way to create one, but this will require that you pay fees. In the long run, it’s cheaper and more beneficial for you if you study your company and your market and determine for yourself what you need.

Fortunately, there are several marketing techniques available to you that generate traffic to your site. A few of these are tips I’ve already mentioned, such as building a website and hiring a professional copywriter. Mailing lists also ensure you build a solid consumer base while email autoresponders send automatic messages pertaining to subscriptions and customer transactions. More steps to generate traffic to your website include:

-         Search engine optimization, or SEO. Establishing a presence on high profile search engines ensures that your name will be the first that pops up when someone searches for similar keywords, products, or companies.

-         Affiliate Marketing is a wonderful way to make contacts as well as bringing more customers to your site. Essentially, you acquire two or more business affiliates that will link back to your company’s website. In doing so, you are directing any customers that stumble across your affiliates to your website and vice versa.

-         Article Marketing is another way to bring customers to your website. This involves you writing a series of articles and then submitting them to online article directories and websites. For example, say you own a pet grooming business. You can higher a copywriter to write articles on the benefits of grooming cats, then provide a link that directs the reader back to your website.

-         Pay Per click (PPC) is another affordable marketing technique. This requires that companies use certain keywords in their advertising. Each time a customer clicks on an ad containing these keywords, the advertiser must pay a certain amount. Depending on the popularity of the keyword, they can be as little as $0.01 per click or over a dollar per click. These keywords can lead to sponsored matches, which are ads that show up on a search engine, as well as content match, which are ads that show up on your website, emails, and more. This can be extremely beneficial in the long run.

-         Social Bookmarketing is a marketing technique that allows you to see just how popular your website is. You are able to determine how many times your site is bookmarked. By using social bookmarketing sites such as Del.icio.us, Digg, Reddit, and several others, you can also increase traffic to your website by advertising your site on websites like these.

-         WSO stands for Warrior Forums Special Offer. By visiting WSO, you can not only find a wide variety of unique deals for you, but you can advertise your own for free! The key is to make your sales letter stand out. You can also use WOS to advertise your products at clearance prices-otherwise known as a Fire Sale.

-         Link building and banner advertising are two essential internet marketing techniques. Link building involves you making your online presence as strong as possible by posting your link in as many places online as you can. This can involve search engines, forums, mass emails, and affiliates. Banner Advertising involves you paying certain websites to display your banner ad. Costs vary depending on the website, the location of the banner, and the size of the banner.

Be sure that you’re using most, if not all of the above traffic techniques to ensure that your business get’s the highest number of visitors necessary.

Article Affiliate Marketing

Thursday, December 31st, 2009

Article affiliate marketing will be defined and explained. This broad method of marketing has become prevalent in the online world of business and is a great way for many businesses to increase internet traffic. While there are pros and cons to the use of affiliates when marketing your online business, it has proven to be a solid way to increase traffic to your web site.

What is Affiliate Marketing?

Web based businesses use affiliate marketing to advertise. They pay an affiliate for generating web site visits or sales. Simply put, the affiliate uses a web site to drive traffic to the web based business’s site. Many people confuse affiliate marketing with network marketing or multi level marketing. In order to avoid this perplexity, some people in the industry have begun to refer to it as performance marketing. It is difficult to change such a widely used name and so there remains some misunderstanding around the name of affiliate marketing.

Why is Affiliate Marketing Popular?

The affiliate marketing strategy has been wildly successful for many web based businesses. It has allowed many businesses to grow from small operations to very large and successful ways to make money online. Many people choose this internet marketing because it is one of the few advertising strategies that provides guaranteed website traffic. In many cases, after the expense of set up, a business owner does not pay unless the affiliate provides internet traffic

Is Affiliate Marketing a ‘Do It Yourself’ Advertising Strategy?

There are companies who have in-house affiliate marketing programs. However, to run a thriving program, you need a team with expertise, time, and energy. The program must be properly managed by someone who has an understanding of the necessary technology and who have the ethics that reflect the nature of your company and the way you want it represented. Because of the skills and time involved, more and more businesses are outsourcing this work to affiliates who are well versed in the industry.

What Gave Some Affiliates a Bad Name?

Unfortunately, many affiliates were not adequately controlled in the past, and they were allowed to perform unethical practices. They were known to use false advertising, spam, and tracking cookies. Search engine spam, or spamdexing came after email spam, which almost everyone is aware of. Spamdexing involves many automatically generated web pages that targeted keywords and improved search engine rankings. The lack of relevant content led to the removal of many such web sites from the search engines or poor ratings.

Affiliates and Pay Per Click

Pay per click advertising was embraced by affiliates early in its conception. Business owners have come to rely on this form of marketing to meet the needs of their individual companies. Often, they go to an affiliate to provide the ‘know how’ to use this tool most successfully. Now there is a change for affiliate marketers using Google Snatch methods.

Affiliate marketing has many faces and in this article, affiliate marketing has been turned several ways to show the good and bad aspects of the practice. There are many complexities and a rich history surrounding this marketing technique.

Article affiliate marketing is a way to gain information on the strengths and weakness of the industry so that you can find your way through successfully.

Increase Online Traffic Using the Best Techniques

Tuesday, December 29th, 2009

Starting a website is not the start of a business. You need to identify your clientele and welcome them to view your products and that is when you need to increase online traffic. And it is only by increasing traffic to your site that you can attract customers to buy your products.

There are many available ways to augment the traffic to your website, but I can’t talk about all of them in this article. You can find more in Google Snatch, a quite interesting internet marketing book.

Formulating your site is probably the first thing that needs to be done. It has to be attractive, precise and credible. Words and beautiful graphics are indispensable. When you have a product you have to sell it. You cannot be waiting for potential customers to knock at your door. Select some prominent and catchy keywords or more appropriately small phrases to let your potential clients know about the specialty of your site. Using your keyword or phrase again and again in your site will increase the chance of gaining popularity in the web world.

Once your website is functional, it needs to be checked for its potentiality.
Check how many clicks it takes to reach the site. Ideally it should not take more than three clicks. Your website must be designed in such a way, that both an experienced web traveler and even a novice web user must feel comfortable to navigate with ease within the site and use it.

Another solution to increase online traffic is to ‘buy’ traffic. The site can be registered with the popular search engines that direct traffic to the sites. Also the site can be linked to similar and popular well charted sites which can increase online traffic. Internet traffic can also be bought through pay-per-click search engines, however the down side is payment.

These search engines allow you to select the keywords and bid for the top position. When you bid on targeted keywords, you get instant traffic with pay-per-click search engines. If possible, bid to appear on the top three listings. This will reach eighty per cent of the online users.

Web users are usually very pressed for time and that factor has to be taken into consideration. When there is a dense population it is the well seen, prominent ones that catch the eye. And so with the online web traffic too, with thousands of competitive sites vying for attention, the top ones get the chunk of attention. For this the first few sites of the popular search engines carry away the most and score over others.

Professional agencies are available that give tips to make the site look smart. Including interactive materials with rewards and competitions are likely to gain an upper hand.

In addition to increasing the friendliness of your site, in this competitive world advertising is another important investment that could be done. In this fast changing time keeping the site updated needs to be taken care of regularly. A little look into these details and you are sure to increase online traffic.

Increase online traffic to increase the inflow of money earned from your site. Want more? Read Google Snatch.

Internet Marketing Online -Viral Traffic

Friday, December 18th, 2009

So what is Viral Marketing? It’s really just a method to get your message out to as many people as possible by word of mouth. In other words the idea is to spread your message like a computer virus would spread.
“Infection” in this case though is a good thing; in this context it’s people becoming aware of you and your website.
Now the actual message can be in many formats, from an email, a video, an audio file, and more. The idea is to multiply your message by getting people who already have your message to spread it to people they know,.
First, let me make it very clear that I am not talking about sending Spam out to millions of people. Apart from the legalities of doing this, sending spam is just nuts, no one ever wants it, and is certainly not going to spread is it, after all if it makes it past the spam folders and actually makes it into an Inbox, it’s going to get deleted when it is read isn’t it (that’s if it even gets read).
Here we go with what seems the topical phrase of all my articles, “Relevant Great Content”. Yes nothing has changed, you need to give value to people who have received your message so that a) they may want to take action with it, and b) forward it on to other people.
So how can we get people to do this? How do we get people to actually pass on your message to someone else?
First things first, it needs to be something that is relevant and useful. In other words it has to have value, wether real or perceived. The person who has received your message has to believe it will give value to someone else (and/or them!) before they will pass it on.
One thing I have found in this industry is the power of partnerships; it’s a lot easier to get you message out there if you have friends in the industry with large mailing lists of their own.
Lets imagine you have released a new e-book. You currently have a mailing list of 1000 people who have expressed an interest or actually purchased something from you in the past.
Your e-Book is, of course in a related niche so you feel sure you can generate some interest in your mailing list so that is the first place to attack.
Now you do have an affiliate program in place don’t you? Read up on the details of why you need an affiliate program in the affiliate article, as this is a vital step because decent affiliates will market your product to their mailing lists and contacts, and this is the power of viral marketing!
Let’s say you have 100 affiliates and each has 1000 customers in their mailing lists. Suddenly you have leveraged on your affiliate and your message is broadcast to 100,000 people in addition to your 1000 people in your mailing list.
Taking it to the next level imagine if your affiliates have affiliates of there own, see how the numbers can grow exponentially?
Now this example is about affiliates, but there is also no reason with the right message that you can’t get your customers doing the work of the affiliates by forwarding your message on to their friends.
In these cases the primary motive is not making money, but it may be because they think your product is great and a friend would benefit from it, or they just think it’s cool and want to tell the world.
Ahhh the power of word of mouth advertising, I tell you there is no more powerful force in advertising then getting your customers telling their friends how cool, hip and fantastic you and your products are (I’m sure you’ve told all your friends about me, haven’t you?).
If you can get customers telling your friends about your product and then once they sign up they tell their friends well you can see that it will take no time at all to have a huge response to your message!
You’ll be needing to buy new servers for your website because the old one has melted with the overwhelming traffic you have received (did you like how I got a reference to my website in between the valuable content?).
Ok Tim, I hear you saying I get the message that this Viral stuff may be handy, but how can I actually use this stuff on my site.
Well firstly, a great technique I used is included in with the master Mike Filsaimes Butterfly Marketing product this has Viral Software included for people who can easily pass on information about your site to other people. They actually automatically get a box to enter friends email addresses, etc.
Pretty well no other method will get you more traffic than Viral traffic because let’s face it, Viral traffic is effectively word of mouth advertising (assuming you have set it up properly). Some of the coolest sites on the Internet exist and grow in member sizes every day due to these techniques.

Explode Your Small Business Marketing With 6 Simple Keyword Research Steps

Thursday, December 3rd, 2009

As Internet marketers, most of us are drawn to Search Engine Optimization, with the lure of free, on-going Internet traffic, sales and sales leads.

For any small business marketing online, the search engine ranking for our chosen keywords consumes us, causing ecstasy when we succeed and sleepless nights when we fail.

But keep this in mind about SEO: increased sales happen only IF:

** the keywords bring enough traffic;
** are obtainable in SEO competition (and)
** if the keywords will actually convert –  if they actually result in increased sales and opt-in marketing sales leads.

Otherwise, it’s really wasted time.

Strategic Keyword Research to the Rescue

We can’t correctly perform Search Engine Optimization for our websites without first spending time performing keyword research.

Everyone has a different idea of how to do this.

Some use WordTracker, Keyword Discovery and others use Google’s Keyword Research Tool.

In my own practice, I started with WordTracker for my sites and for my clients. I have to tell you that I’ve changed my mind; my preference toady is for the Free Google Keyword Research Tool.

Now that Google shows an estimated number of average monthly impressions (instead of just the old green bar), the Google tool can really help with your keyword research. If you don’t have an AdWords account, you can access the tool independently (just Google: Google Keyword Research Tool).

Grabbing the Best Keywords for your Website Using Google’s Keyword Research Tool

Step 1 — Put your root keyword into the tool. I suggest one phrase at a time, 1-4 words in length.

Start with a word or short phrase that someone might use searching for your products or services. Then, click: Get Keyword ideas and wait for the results.

Another option is to click: Website Content and let Google pull suggestions from your website content.

Step 2 — IMPORTANT, change the Match Type to Phrase, which adds quotes to the keyword results. This makes the tool’s result most closely match organic search, ignoring the “loosey-goosey” broad match phrases for AdWords.

And under the Show/Hide Columns make sure your settings display Approx Avg Search Volume. (If you’re marketing a seasonal product or service you might change to a different setting.)

Step 3 — Analyze the results. What we’re all trying to find is the low hanging fruit: the best balance of traffic volume, ease of search engine optimization and traffic that will likely convert.

I suggest targeting phrases that are at least 5,000 to 10,000 monthly average impressions. Conversely, keyword phrases with very high monthly impressions may prove too competitive in organic search. Find the best balance for your organic optimization skills and for your industry.

If your small business marketing needs to deliver you 200,000 monthly organic impressions and you choose keyword search phrases with between 5,000 and 10,000 monthly impressions, then based on my formula you’ll need between 20 to 40 keyword phrases from search engine ranking to deliver you that 200,000 monthly impressions.

Of course, as you discover opportune phrases that are offer greater monthly impressions and that you’re comfortable optimizing for, that will lower the number of phrases needed to reach your monthly goal.

Make your keyword list from this criteria. I like to copy and paste into my email program.

Lastly on this point, you’ll need good click-through rate data and conversion rate data either from your site or for your industry, to determine the number of monthly impressions you’ll need to shoot for.

Step 4 — Evaluate the competing number of pages in organic search from Google. Is this a number you’re comfortable optimizing for?

While you’re on the SERPs looking over the search results, look at the AdWords ads and the organic results.

Does your service or product sound like it belongs on this page, for this keyword? Or, does it sound out of place?

And for a search phrase to be good, normally you’ll want to see several AdWords ads appearing for the search phrase.

Make your list from this criteria, setting aside any keyword phrases from the previous step (at least for right now) where the competition is too steep. Phrases that look good but with too much competition, save for the future.

This brings up a good point: Keep good notes! Otherwise, you’ll come back for the next round of research and have to re-do things that you shouldn’t have to. :-(

Step 5 — Evaluate the phrases still on your list for their likely commercial intention using the Microsoft Online Commercial Intention Tool (Google it).

Now, this is a Microsoft tool…I use it and am glad for the data, but I don’t make decisions about any keyword phrase off data from just one tool or from just one step in my process.

Having said that, I wouldn’t select 15 phrases for optimization where each of them shows there’s not commercial intent.

Keep your list of phrases that still meet your criteria and move onto the next step.

Step 6 — Evaluate your remaining list in Google’s Traffic Estimator. What I look for is the relationship of average monthly impressions to estimated daily click throughs in AdWords. Do they make sense and suggest commercial intention?

If one phrase has twice the monthly impressions as another, but only 1/2 the daily AdWords clicks, something may be wrong. You may want to look closer.

The goal isn’t just traffic, it’s traffic that converts — buys, signs up to your email list, calls or emails your company and becomes a sales lead, etc.

When you complete these steps, you should have whittled your initial keyword list down to the “lowest hanging fruit”, the most opportune phrases (easiest to rank well in) COMBINED with the largest amount of quality traffic, COMBINED with traffic that should convert.

The Windows into Your Website

Keywords are the windows into your website. If you target the wrong ones for your business, you won’t have the traffic, sales or sales leads that you need.

If you’re using an SEO Company to perform your work, make sure they do it the correct way — not the lazy way — and oversee their work. Your site, your responsibility!

If you’re doing d-i-y Keyword Research, be really educated about what you’re doing or your d-i-y effort could cost you more than hiring a qualified company.

NOTE: Another option available from some SEO companies today for those watching their budget is to function as a Marketing Coach (or in this instance Keyword Research Coach). This is sort of a hybrid between the retail price, full-service option and the go-it-alone, time consuming do-it-yourself option.

Small business marketing and achieving the search engine ranking for your chosen keywords doesn’t have to be difficult or expensive, if you start with solid keyword research. And if performed correctly, the end results will be keywords that work for your business.

Internet Network Marketing – Traffic Strategies

Wednesday, December 2nd, 2009

There is a simple formula you can use to ensure you are ACCOUNTABLE and productive every single day. This same exact formula will ensure you have targeted traffic flowing to you every day, but guess what?
You are going to have to work to accomplish this!

Here is what you do.

1. First things first you put together a PPC campaign. This takes time initially to set up and make sure it’s actually WORKING but once it is, you can walk away. It’s more or less hands off. All you will have to do is check back in on your ads, keep competing them against each other to get better results, things like that.

PPC is going to be your biggest learning curve. Truthfully, I bumbled around with PPC for 2 months before I really decided to get serious with it. Since I was pulling leads from all these other places it didn’t matter to me, but eventually I realized how intrical of a role PPC would play and got down to business.

You need to make some mistakes to figure things out. Just don’t make too many. Once you master PPC, you’re pulling leads for the rest of time.

2. Spend 20 minutes a day writing an article, doing the keyword research for the article, and submitting it to the directories. You shouldn’t take more then 20-30 minutes to do this. Anything above that and you are wasting time and not being efficient. Do this every single day.

3. Spend 20 minutes a day writing a press release, doing the keyword
research, and submitting it to the directories. Once again, do not spend more then 30 minutes on this, unless you are doing a VERY BIG press release, and spending money to submit it. Then you want it done right. But typically, you want to be efficient and make good use of your time. These things really shouldn’t take that long.

4. Spend 20 minutes a day participating in your favorite targeted forums. Just be a member of the community and post relevant information or ask great questions. 20 minutes every day.

5. Post to your favorite blogs or on your blog.

6. Once a week, test a different ad in a different Ezine. Constantly test and find the best Ezine ad that has the biggest return on an investment. You should do one Ezine ad a week until you find combinations that are very powerful. Then you can branch out and start creating armies of Ezine ads that will drive seriously targeted traffic back to all your capture pages.

This basic layout and format I just gave you is incredibly powerful. Spending 80 minutes a day posting on forums, writing an article, a press release etc… will DRIVE SERIOUS traffic to your sites.
Plus building and setting up your PPC advertising and Ezine advertising, which are methods that are hands off once there done, will flood your pipeline with prospects.

If you wanted you could even break each of these things down to days of the week. For example; Monday you spend 60 minutes doing articles, Tuesday press releases, etc. And everyday you should spend at least 20 minutes in the forums…

With this as your traffic strategy you are in good hands! Combine it with the fact that YOU always need to be learning and getting better anyways, and you will grow as a marketer and an entrepreneur.

There are always new things coming out on the internet, PAY ATTENTION TO THEM. You could also be doing Facebook, Twitter, social bookmarking, Digg, Squidoo, and all sorts of other methods to drive traffic. You should really find the ones that you like the most and focus there.
